The range

Twelve products for four very different edges of one small town

A dune-front lounge at Keurboomstrand and a forest-set stoep at The Crags rarely want the same fabric, and a fairway-facing window at Goose Valley asks a different question again. This is the full range we measure and fit across Plettenberg Bay.

Around the house

A holiday home has to work while nobody's watching it

Most of what we fit here isn't for the week you're down. It's for the weeks in between, when the sun keeps moving across the same glass with nobody home to adjust for it. A bead-chain roller with a proper tensioner, a cellular blind that actually insulates, a motorised setting that holds — these are the details that matter more in a house that sits empty than one that's lived in every day.

How we specify for Plettenberg Bay

One small town, four different exposures

Plett's whole footprint is small enough to walk across in an afternoon, and yet the open beachfront, the Keurbooms lagoon, the forest at The Crags and the river-set fairways at Goose Valley take four genuinely different amounts of sun, salt and wind. We don't spec any of them the same way.

01

Robberg's shelter is real, but only for some

Central Beach and the town side of the bay sit in the lee of the Robberg headland and take a gentler version of the coast's wind and swell than the peninsula's own ocean-facing side, or the open beachfront running toward Keurboomstrand — a few kilometres apart, a genuinely different specification.

02

Keurboomstrand is two addresses in one village

A dune-front house at Keurboomstrand takes the open beachfront and direct salt spray full-on; a house set back on the Keurbooms River lagoon itself gets real shelter from the dune line and the forest behind it. Same village, different hardware.

03

An empty house for weeks changes the brief

A meaningful share of Plett's homes stand shut between visits, so scheduled, app-controlled blinds are as much a lifestyle argument here as a comfort one — the fabric isn't left baking under one fixed setting for a month, and the house doesn't sit with every blind in the same position the whole time nobody's in it.

04

Forest and river light asks for a softer answer

The Crags, inland along the forest belt, and Goose Valley's fynbos-and-river frontage both take a lower, more filtered light problem than the open beachfront's direct sun — view-preserving sunscreen usually wins over blanket blockout in both.

Scroll — the headland draws its arm around the bay, and the water inside goes still.

How it works

Four steps, whichever edge of the bay you're on

The same honest process whether it's one skylight in a Goose Valley golf-estate home or every window in a Keurboomstrand rebuild.

Questions

Honest answers before you commit

Do you cover all of Plettenberg Bay, or just the beachfront?
We measure and fit across the whole town — the open beachfront, the Keurbooms lagoon side, the forest belt out at The Crags and the golf estate at Goose Valley among the areas we cover most. Tell us your address through the form or chat and a consultant will confirm reach and timing before booking your measure.
Why does a dune-front window need different hardware to a lagoon-facing one?
A dune-front house at Keurboomstrand or on the open beachfront takes direct salt spray and onshore wind with very little natural shelter, which is where powder-coated aluminium and sealed cassettes earn their keep. A lagoon-set or forest-set home a street or two back gets real protection from the dune line, the river bank or the tree cover, and can often run a lighter specification without paying for a full marine-grade system it doesn't need.
Are your roller shutters security shutters?
No. Our roller shutters are a shading product — sun, glare and heat control on the outside of the glass, with a genuine blackout benefit for bedrooms and holiday homes left empty. They are not security-rated shutters; that's a different product entirely, which we can quote separately if you need it.
My house stands empty for weeks at a time. Does that change what you'd recommend?
Yes, more than most people expect. We lean toward motorised, scheduled control on empty-house properties — set once, the blinds keep tracking the sun whether or not anyone's there to adjust them, and the fabric isn't left facing one direction under full sun for a month straight. It's a comfort argument for the weeks you're down and a fabric-longevity argument for the weeks you're not.
Will an awning or zip screen survive the wind on the open coast?
Every motorised awning, zip screen and external blind we fit on the exposed beachfront or at Robberg carries wind-sensor retraction as standard, so it closes itself before a gust arrives. Homes tucked into the Keurbooms lagoon or sheltered by forest at The Crags can often run a lighter spec — we'll tell you honestly which applies to your address.
Do you offer child-safe options?
Yes, on every corded or chained product. Cord and chain tensioners are standard on every install, and for nurseries or playrooms we recommend cordless or motorised control instead — nothing dangling within reach at all.
